My Story

My journey to becoming a financial coach started at happy hour.

It was just a regular meet up with close friends for cocktails and appetizers. On this day, I finally declared that I wanted to change careers. Teaching music at a public school for 10+ years had been a joy, but I was ready for something different.

"I want to do the Dave Ramsey financial coaching training and become a financial coach," I said.

This is the sentence that put things into motion. Finally saying my dreams out loud encouraged me start making an exit plan at my teaching job.

Since that day, I have completed the Dave Ramsey Financial Coaching Master Training, created a small business called Fennel Financial Coaching LLC, and have been sharing money saving ideas on social media. This has been a rewarding adventure to help people make wise choices with their money and live their dreams.

About Me

As a born and raised Spokane girl, I love all things about the Inland Northwest. You can either find me exploring trails, knee deep in a river with a fly rod, or sipping a hazy IPA at a local brewery. When I'm not out and about, I enjoy tying flies, gardening, baking, reading, and crocheting. My husband and I recently celebrated seven years of marriage. We enjoy traveling, camping, and watching rom coms together. We have two 70 pound fur kids that think they're lap dogs.

After high school, I attended Whitworth University (Go Bucs!) where I earned my Bachelors and Masters degrees. I taught music at a public elementary school for 12 years. During this time, I successfully taught hundreds of students from Kindergarten to 5th Grade. I honed in on creating lessons that were in engaging, educational, and fun. In 2018, I worked for countless hours and became a National Board Certified Teacher.

My experience as a teacher allowed me to gain incredible teaching chops. I obtained the understanding of learning styles, pacing of lessons, analyzing situations in the moment, knowing when to pivot, and making meaningful relationships. I've been able to take these skills and transfer them to educating people about these finances. Seeing people make life changing habits has been so rewarding and I can't wait to work with more people.
